Homecoming | Tracing the Models that Shaped Me

“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” - T. S. Eliot.

Embarking on my journey in the world of bodywork, I never anticipated the profound 10+ year voyage that awaited me. Along this transformative path, I encountered invaluable lessons and remarkable individuals who shaped not only my practice but also my sense of self. here’s a timeline for those intrigued by my work.

2011-2013

Enrolling in an 18-month massage program at The New Zealand College of Massage (NZCM)*, I embraced massage as a practical skill. While some aspects of massage therapy didn't resonate with me initially, I nurtured my passion for learning about anatomy and physiology. This led me to pursue a 3-year degree in Neuromuscular Therapy.

2014-2015

Working with clients in clinics and professional sporting teams opened my eyes to the complexities of the human body beyond the classroom. Seeking a more comprehensive framework, I trained with the NOI Group, delving into pain mechanisms and graded motor imagery.

2016 - 2017

Teaching anatomy, physiology, and clinical reasoning at NZCM became a pivotal phase in my journey, honing my craft and challenging conventional wisdom. I explored the transformative power of yoga through a 200-Hour Teacher Training at Hot Yoga Wellington (HYW) and delved into innovative techniques like Dynamic Alignment through Imagery and Dermoneuromodulation.

2018-2019

Managing marketing and studio operations at HYW, I deepened my understanding of the business side of the industry. Training in Neurodynamics enhanced my physical assessment and treatment abilities. Opening a small (one day a week) private clinic allowed me to blend manual and movement techniques for personalised sessions.

2020 -2022

Relaxation massage sessions with the Cancer Society revealed the nurturing effects of massage therapy. Furthering my knowledge, I completed a 300-hour Teacher Training program with Jules Mitchell, focusing on biomechanics and connective tissue behavior. Personal life changes brought a newfound appreciation for downtime and simple pleasures.

2023

Establishing my home clinic in Upper Hutt, I provide services in a tranquil and nurturing environment. This endeavor allows me to fully focus on growing my business and providing exceptional care to clients. Together, let's explore the infinite possibilities of healing, growth, and joy within the realm of bodywork and beyond.

Daily I am humbled, inspired and in awe.
